Smartee Denti-Technology has announced the worldwide release of Smartee Sleep Aligners, an advanced clear aligner system designed to support the management of obstructive sleep apnoea hypopnoea syndrome (OSAHS) and primary snoring (PS). The new series features two models — Smartee SA, which targets the treatment of OSAHS and PS, and Smartee SA Plus, which simultaneously treats OSAHS while correcting orthodontic irregularities. Together, these solutions offer a discreet, comfortable, and patient-friendly alternative to conventional OSAHS therapies, improving both treatment compliance and sleep quality.
OSAHS remains one of the most common sleep-related breathing disorders worldwide. Its early stages often manifest as habitual snoring caused by a narrowing of the airway, which can progress into more serious conditions involving repeated breathing interruptions during sleep. These disturbances not only degrade sleep quality but are also linked to cardiovascular, neurological, and metabolic health risks.
The Smartee Sleep Aligner series directly addresses these challenges through digitally customized aligners featuring a dual-splint locking mechanism that gently advances the lower jaw while evenly distributing occlusal forces to stabilize the mandible. This repositioning increases the airway volume in both the velopharyngeal and oropharyngeal regions, improving airflow and alleviating symptoms associated with OSAHS. By advancing the mandible, the aligners also help reposition the tongue base, further expanding the pharyngeal airway and reducing obstruction during sleep.
Each aligner is crafted from a 1 mm-thick dental-grade material, designed for optimal comfort and minimal foreign body sensation, encouraging consistent wear and patient adherence.
The Smartee SA is ideal for individuals with simple snoring, mild-to-moderate OSAHS, or intolerance to CPAP therapy. It works by advancing the mandible to increase airway space, with adjustable titration to determine the most effective position. The Smartee SA Plus, on the other hand, serves dual purposes—correcting mild anterior misalignment during the day and maintaining airway patency at night using specially designed mandibular advancement aligners.
Both models are now available globally through the Smartee Case Management System. By integrating digital orthodontics with airway management, Smartee reinforces its commitment to developing innovative, evidence-based, and patient-centered solutions that enhance both dental and overall health outcomes.
