PDS Health, a leading organization in integrated healthcare support, has introduced PDS Health Medical™, a new division designed to bridge the gap between dental and medical care. Through connected offices, in-practice clinicians, and coordinated referral systems, this initiative aims to unify healthcare delivery and promote the understanding that oral health is a crucial component of overall well-being. The launch represents a major milestone in advancing more connected and preventive patient care.
Stephen E. Thorne IV, founder and CEO of PDS Health, emphasized the motivation behind this development, stating that their exploration of the Mouth-Body Connection® revealed how separating dental and medical services limits patient outcomes. PDS Health Medical was created to remove that barrier and foster a more holistic, integrated model that benefits both patients and clinicians.
The company first tested this approach in Summerlin, Nevada, where dental and medical care operated under one roof. Following its success, PDS Health expanded the concept to 13 integrated practices—eight in the Las Vegas region and five in the greater Phoenix area. Each facility is designed to enable team-based, patient-centered care, supported by synchronized systems and coordinated clinical processes.
At the core of this integration is Epic, the industry-leading electronic health record platform. PDS Health was the first major dental organization to adopt Epic at scale, creating the largest oral health deployment of the system globally. Now extended to medical services, this technology gives clinicians unified access to patient records, ensuring more comprehensive and informed care.
Joe Feldsien, president of PDS Health Medical, highlighted that clinicians can now view a complete picture of a patient’s health, transforming preventive care and chronic disease management.
Looking ahead, PDS Health Medical plans to expand into new regions, beginning with Nevada, Arizona, California, and Colorado. The model also provides primary care providers opportunities for leadership, ownership, and innovation within their practices. Through partnerships with like-minded health systems, PDS Health is setting a new standard for connected, community-based healthcare that prioritizes long-term patient wellness.
